Will Carbon Monoxide Alarms be Mandatory?
More and more organisations in the Plumbing and Heating Industry are wondering why it hasn’t been made a legal requirement in England and Wales, since it is already mandatory in Scotland and Northern Ireland. A recent campaign by Plumb Centre and Honeywell, two of the biggest names in the Heating industry, aims to collect 100 thousand signatures in an online petition from their traders and installers.
A huge project, but as soon as this number is reached; it will be the catalyst for the House of Commons to hold a debate on the subject. The ideal result would be for it to be made compulsory to install a CO alarm, wherever a carbon burning appliance is installed.
