Meeting with MPs – Portcullis House – 11th March

At the end of January, Gordon and I met our Wiltshire MP, James Gray, at his surgery in Cricklade, and voiced our concerns that in England legislation on carbon monoxide alarms was behind that of the rest of the UK. Mr Gray agreed to write to Robert Jenrick MP, Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government on our behalf. We mentioned to Mr Gray that we were meeting Barry Sheerman MP, Co-chair APPCOG, on 11th March at Portcullis House to discuss progress on legislation and other CO matters and Mr Gray asked if he might also attend the meeting. On 11th March we met both MPs and had a fruitful discussion on how to go forward.

In May we received a response from Lord Greenhalgh, Building Safety Minister, confirming the status quo but adding: “We will be bringing forward a Social Housing White Paper and setting out the next steps on carbon monoxide alarm requirements in due course.”
